Sacred Valley Pride ~ Total sale price will be donated to Born Free

The pride was protected by two males in this territory.
In this painting I wanted to feature 'Garlic' the darker haired male, with two of his favourite lionesses and their cubs relaxing, while the Thornicroft's giraffe warily kept their distance.
It is always thrilling to find lion, but when there are cubs involved it makes the encounter extra special and best explains why lions are truly social cats.

Born Free provides funding to support a monitoring programme which conducts surveys of the lion population of the Dinder-Alatash territory between Sudan and Ethiopia. The trans boundary co-operation is supported by Born Free supplying a Lion Guard pilot project.
Scouts from local communities will be trained to mitigate lion-livestock conflict in and around Alatash National Park, which will improve the protection of the lions.
